In this episode i am trying to make the Marble Machine X play 20000 Marbles in a row without fail, mixed results. But with some rule changes we won in the end :)
Have a great day everyone and good luck with what you are doing / Martin

This guy is a LEGEND. 🙏.
Thank you for the stuff on Spotify as well. :)
WILSON!
Marble Machine X is like the Binky of the music world.
The overrotation doesn't help with reducing the force, it only increases the marbles' moment of inertia, which causes it to accelerate more slowly. Friction also doesn't help, because there is no friction, when nothing is moving. What helps is that the marble path is winding, which diverts parts of the force towards the walls, rather than in the direction of the path.
I wish I could afford to pay for your music. You deserve the money.
Legend 👍
Martin is an inspiration to all. Not just engineers of different disciplines, but all people. Dedication, kindness, heart, soul, you’re the man!
That over rotation trick won't help with the pressure. You are using a dynamic phenomenon to counter a static phenomenon. And if my rigid body dynamics classes have taught me one thing, that doesn't work ^^ I believe the increase in performance that was observed anyway came from two other factors that you changed between Prototype 2 and 3 ( you changed more than one parameter, you mad scientist! ): - the increased smoothness comes from the paths having a lower curvature (wider turns) - the decreased static pressure comes from the tracks having much more drastic changes in direction (I mean sections that are very far from vertical, compared to all of them being rather close to vertical on P1 and P2) So in 4 words, wider and longer turns. These are mere hypothesis of course, and would require further testing. Hope this helps, Regards
2:12 And it feels like a no brainer for me to spam that pay what you want option! Thank you so much for putting all this content out there! It has phenomenal value to me
Lol my brain can’t even comprehend step one🤣
As he achieved more complex and beautiful machine, he gain more weight
Wow, math is so hard I'll be a musician instead! the math that musicians do:
So multi talented. We need more creators like this.
You should level the table the Wilson dropped all the marbles on.
As the speed of the marble is getting slowed, did you test it at low tempo, when tubes are empty ? May be this situation will never occur... Just wondering
I have always wondered what an artificer / bard multiclass would look like. Apparently Martin is a perfect example.
Wow even test tubes!?! wait everything you've been working with is a solid though...
Wait. I actually wonder. How many marbles do you have in MMX?
Home Depot must love this guy.
So the marbles all spin at the same speed, but with their different effective diameters, they cover more distance per rotation, due to the smaller effective diameter..
Me: has video playing in the background Martin: "... free ..." Me: "FREE?"
By the way, you should AVOID TO USE THIS IKEA SCALE, I have one since years and it is really not handy especially for doing this kind of precise measures. When you had 1-3 grams, the weight doesn’t move and you have to press it then release for let it give you the correct weight. I use it 2 times by day since 15 years to give the right food quantity to my cat. PS: 15 years...tf it’s good for this kind of cheap device so I’m confused now.....🤷♂️
I’m French and feel shameful for this shitty plied wood... I would like to know from who this was to avoid them in future...
Amazing, it's like programing in real life
This channel has turned from a 'normal cool' into an 'incredible cool'. Amazing work dude!
I want to make something like this but completely different route.
Statistics. Make the numbers say what you want lol
But really what you did was the right thing looking at the bigger picture which is the opposite of what most people do with statistics
Holy moly! This in itself is a science! To see you go to such great lenghts just to make sure your music Instrument is playing with less errors is astounding and shows your pure dedication! The level of detail EVERY STEP in this machine has and tje process behind it by trial and error and also by comparing different types of solutions and creating prototypes is phenomenal! Keep up the awesome work!
Wow! Wowowowowow! that moment when .. 7:26 why the marbles go at different speeds!! Such an eye opener! So much brilliance!
15:40 after Wilson emptied the valve, how many marbles were left in it? You need to subtract this from the 70, because that's not part of your stockpile of marbles you can use when no others arrive from the top (e.g. because some other instrument steals them all).
was really AAAAAHhhh lol after all the work
Even if you've wrote your license yourself, you've hopefully had a lawyer read it to make sure it actually does what you intend?
Me: has video playing in the background Martin: "... free ..." Me: "FREE?"
Can you really count the marbles that failed do to the temporary tape failing as an actual failure of the machine? You shouldn't be counting that against the reliability of the machine.
When you can get the machine to faithfully re-create the work of "Double Trouble" in SRV's "Riviera Paradise," I will be truly impressed (I don't ask for much, do I?). I won't ask for it to re-create the work of Stevie Ray himself. Impossible, and to try borders on sacrilege, even if imitation is the highest form of flattery. I'm kidding, of course ... Good of you to allow sharing of your music. And anything that shames the Never-Napsters, I'm for.
Dose anyone want a WILLSON ornament for christmas? I do.
Why do you call it a decimal point, when you are using a decimal comma?
U R A G nius
Giving away all music you’ve made for free! That’s so insanely generous and nice dude. Big big respect for the grind and generosity my fellow Scandinavian!!
what is the purpose of this
This channel has turned from a 'normal cool' into an 'incredible cool'. Amazing work dude!
Спасибо за возможность использовать Вашу музыку!
the delaminating plywood gave me the giggles...it a rule! the good product hardly leaves the country. as for Europe. want good French wine? go to France. want good scotch go to scotland... want good plywood go to Sweden.
More posts please 😁
So I can remove the diffuser as well put it somewhere else. I need to sand some parts a bit and the middle is slightly lighter than the outside, because that wood has not been oiled, like the second-hand tables I used were oiled, but the bed wasn't. So maybe I'll do that to make color even, but it doesn't bother me too much
lol mounting my diffuser was so satisfying. I mounted a beam on the wall with slots on the back against the wall in which the metal 90-degree things would go. It fit so snug, it was really AAAAAHhhh lol after all the work
Wow! Wowowowowow! that moment when .. 7:26 why the marbles go at different speeds!! Such an eye opener! So much brilliance!
Anyone else get a little alarmed at the start that we were going to watch 20 thousand marbles play 'bang, bang, bang, bang, bang-da-bang' for the whole video? No? Just me, then. *faceplame* *facepalmenow*
Waiting for #148 ........ somebody help me !!
me: mom. i wanna be an musicant mom: no! you will be engineer me 20 years later:
😏1000% smug
Thank you for going open license with everything... Open source-- you make the community great! Definitely pushing some dollars your way for your generosity. Thanks again brother.
13:50 why didn't he just measure the amount of pressure each turn and lane reduced and then part from that?.
who else has been here since last Wednesday refreshing daily for a new video? anyone else having withdrawals?
Hi. Have you tried using jewelry box felt instead of using tape to slow down/brake the marbles?
I don't know how this man does it but it is awesome music keep up the work!
I’ll be using your music and sharing it with every content creator I meet!!
I remember seeing this machine but it was different
Dammit Wilson!!!
More posts please 😁
O
The days drag by, and here I am watching this again to get my Martin and MMX fix. I hope the length of time between videos means A) Martin in getting some rest and B) he's just being so productive he has no time to edit videos.
Somehow this conveyor belt seworld.info/will/hI-qzbPdrHSM0Hk/video reminds me of the old Marble Machines programming wheel ;-)
You're so amazing bro, I'm so happy to watching yoir channel. And i yours new subscriber
The machine sure has gotten quieter since the proof of concept video in 2019!
And according to this video would have taken about 20 minutes to make those marbles: seworld.info/will/Z3HI2r6xmpyKzmA/video
You are genius
How havey is this machine?
Free licence ??? Thats an amazing gift , thankyou
I’ll be using your music and sharing it with every content creator I meet!!
Have you lost your marbles?!
Damn, that’s some really good progress. I’m confident have this thing working for an extended period with 0 failures across all components sooner or later. Those tracks you machined with the little windows are beautiful indeed.
when is mmx marble machine song?
For all the dutchies that see this, can we push the marble machine into the top2000?
O
Love this guy
The amount of engineering he puts into the machine is staggering
Also those runner wheels on the belts will not remove resonating but instead shift it into a higher frequenzy. Although that may be enough to solve your problem.
I'm a little worried about your new wooden parts. Since they basically absorb all the weight and impulse, they may wear down quite fast. Since wear on these parts will directly affect the height of the marble chain inside, you should keep a close eye on that.
Hi Wintergatan, thanks for all your videos, hope the project is going well. To solve the issue with the belts I think you can simply pierce some holes in it to stop the belts entering in resonance. If there is tiny holes all across the belt, the vibration will not be able to run across it. Hope it can help you. Have a great day, full blessings
This guy is just the best man what a humble person you are
I feel so at home when I watch your videos, it's like the feeling one gets when watching or reading Winnie the Pooh
You mad lad, you actually did it
It is SO SO exciting to see where Marble Machine X is- I hadn’t checked in on your progress for awhile and it’s very cool. I can’t wait to hear it playing music :)
This guy's a genius. If I've never been interested on listening to my math teacher, this guy's an exception. I'm actually learning here.
Two thoughts that I had while watching this asside from that it is awesome is that 1. Having labeling or some index on the programing wheel sheets so that you dont have to
Thanks for free music. I think your math is off. It has bothered me the last few videos, I think it is your formula in excel. 20000 with 61 fails is 19939 success. 19939/20000 is 99.695%
How could I miss this?
В две руки собрать космический корабль, который красиво полетит - талантище!
We are witnessing a pioneer. Thank for all the hard works and great videos!!
This is awesome I love the $0 + pay what you want, this should become standard.
The rotation thing was incredible, only that was recompense enough. But those weight traps to reduce the marvels pressure... and the marvel modules, it's just so great.
I've just discovered you and damn dude that's so sexy! Edit : me, a french person reaching any point in any video where someone talks about my country : Oh no they hate me! (Jk I know ya don't XD unless...)
Wow l like 🤔🤭❤️❤️
The over-rotation effect slows down the marble because it needs to rotate faster to cover the same amount of track, so a larger percentage of the kinetic energy goes into rotational movement, and less in linear movement. But that only matters during movement, not in the static pressure.
Exactly. The marble is rolling on a smaller part of itself so it needs more rotations to travel the same amount. It's like when turning something on a lathe. You have to spin the part faster when cutting smaller diameters and slower on larger diameters to achieve the correct surface footage per minute.
I imagine this is how it feels to make the first piano all those years ago in Europe. The piano prides itself in being able to reciprocate the wide range of octaves and keys that only a orchestra can provide. Hence it is a great solo instrument. With the bass, drums, and everything you're doing, that's exactly it.
is your Detektivbyrån stuff also on there :)
More friction = more speed on the marble track diameter thing
but why?
The reliability score is incorrect 20000 marbles tested with 19939 successful gives a reliability of 19939/20000 = 0.99695 on a scale from 0 to 1. To convert to percent you multiply this by 100 and get 99.695%, but note that spreadsheets do this step for you when you format the number as percent.
seworld.info/will/l5e1zN7Fnnl6vps/video
Two thoughts that I had while watching this asside from that it is awesome is that 1. Having labeling or some index on the programing wheel sheets so that you dont have to count spaces between pins could be helpful. 2. I don't know that you would use it for a song but you didnt specifically test releasing 2 marbles simultaniously to see if that causes a failure, I view that more as a test in case the progam wheel incorectly programed. Awesome work, please keep it up.
What a chad with the free music! Youre a great guy i have to say!
This machine is so beautiful. Aesthetically, and as a piece of marvelous engineering. I can't wait to hear it play something complex :D
I look forward to these videos . They brighten my day and you Martin, inspire me to pursue my own interests. Thank You for everything you do.
Mesmerizing to watch all the parts work together
I am starting to think that the mmx is in its final touchs
The score is really perfect your do is great 🤠🤠🤠🤠
