I've seen the videos Creators posted about trying to live for 24 hours in a grocery store or places like Target. That got me thinking. How long COULD you survive in a grocery store? Whether you were locked in or it was your home base in a zombie apocalypse, how long would you be able to SURVIVE with that as your only source of sustenance? Today, I'm going to settle in and find out!

  • Considering there are emergency exits in grocery stores, you'd be pretty stupid to spend more than a few minutes in a locked one. You literally cannot be "locked-in" to a commercial space because the locks are on the inside.

    • I'll do you one better. I've never seen an apocalypse where a lock of any kind would keep out other survivors (or alien overlords), most of whom will have weapons and will take all your food from you.

  • You can live a lifetime in there and this is the correct answer. Take the soil from the houseplants and create raised bed immediately. Use seeds from vegetables to grow more food. Modify lights from store into grow lights. Compost rotting food to create more soil. Use soil to grow more food and the cycle continues...sustainability! the concept is not that complicated.

  • Okay. Now that this glorious theory has been discussed... What would happen to humanity if let's say, all non-insect and non human animals (including marine life above plankton level, even shrimp) in the world died suddenly in one moment, besides humanity of course? I know vegetarian and vegan diets are more than viable done properly, as well as artificial meats ect. But if it happened suddenly, instantly, with our current population acknowledging how essential meat/fish/poultry is to feeding countless populations, as well as having interactions with the insect and flora populations. What would happen to not just us, but the world? Theoretically we could turn the rapidly growing insect populace as a source of sustenance and protein (insects are eaten in many places) but with the demand of their consumption rising so steadily, and our sudden environmental demand for more crop space and agriculture, it's a lot to think about @-@ and if we went a step further to say all animal and insect based life besides humans and plants died off, would we survive? Would most of us die and it just take forever to recover from the starvation? Would our world fall into utter chaos?

  • It's me! Your local psychology nerd! Evan is likely to be able to physically survive with the food But if he is all alone for 63 years is likely to go insane in one way or another. And an apocalyptic situation is very likely to be traumatizing and being all alone in a grocery store for decades is not going be helping him. And if he's a person in modern day he is likely to get extremely bored quickly, as people in recent years have better technology which often leads to a more impatient species (for the most part). All those things together, along with the hope that he'll see his beloved Theorista again, he's bound to go insane within a decade at most

(they can also fly) ig it would be edible, but it wouldn't be fun eating expired goldfish (it tastes like paint) with small bugs crawling around it

Then think about around crismistmas time or any holiday. So next time you decide you don't want somethin put it back ware you found it. Or we have to Deal with it wall Putin away the product. Thanks

  • OMG I couldn’t imagine how anyone could calculate the true stock age of a grocery store as from day to day the quantities of each product vary. One day 20% of the items could be completely out of stock the next day 9% but 7% of the other items re down to half or single item left of the shelves.
